Divya

Perth – Elizabeth Quay

My name is Divya Prabakaran, and I completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education in 2020. My professional background was in Software Accounting; however, I chose to change my career because of my passion for working with children, families, and the community.

I believe every child is unique, capable, and learns in different ways. I value child-led learning and believe children should be given opportunities to lead their learning, make choices, and participate at their own level and pace. By following children’s interests through meaningful engagement, communication, and play, I support children to build confidence, independence, and lifelong learning skills.

I aim to create a safe, caring, inclusive, and welcoming environment where children feel respected, valued, and supported to grow and explore. I enjoy providing real-life learning experiences such as cooking, yoga, sensory play, and STEM activities to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and development.

As I am from India, cultural diversity and inclusion are very important to me. I believe language plays an important role in helping children connect with their identity, culture, family background, and sense of belonging. I value respecting and celebrating children’s languages and cultural backgrounds to help every child feel included and connected.

I enjoy creating edible sensory experiences because they allow children to explore, enjoy learning, develop independence, and support emotional regulation and confidence.
