The Stride Scoop

Welcome to the July edition of The Stride Scoop.

The school holidays are here, bringing plenty of excitement across our centres as children enjoy new adventures, creative experiences and opportunities to learn through play. From our Vacation Care program to everyday moments of discovery, it has been wonderful to see children building confidence, friendships and lasting memories.

This month, we’re sharing highlights from across our Stride community, including updates on our growing State Swim program, our new Allied Health services and some of the inspiring learning experiences taking place in our centres. We’re also reminding families that applications for our new Stride Traineeship Program close at the end of the month.

Thank you for being part of the Stride community. We hope you enjoy catching up on this month’s stories and seeing the many ways our children continue to learn, grow and thrive together.

THIS MONTH AT STRIDE

STATE SWIM BEGINS

Families at participating centres are now being contacted as our new State Swim program continues to roll out across Stride.

This exciting initiative gives children the opportunity to build confidence in the water while developing an important life skill in a fun and supportive environment. We look forward to welcoming more children into the program as the rollout continues across our centres.

If your centre is participating, your Centre Manager will provide all the information you need, including program dates and next steps.

AROUND OUR CENTRES

Children across our Stride centres have been embracing new experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence.

At Coolbellup, our new Lending Library is encouraging families to share the joy of reading at home, while hands on science investigations have sparked excitement as children explored colour, bubbles and changing reactions. Children also spent time reflecting on meaningful ways to connect with Country through everyday practices that honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

At Perth CBD, weekly yoga adventures continue to support children’s wellbeing, helping them develop balance, mindfulness and confidence through movement.

At Baldivis, children have been strengthening their early literacy skills through alphabet songs, letter recognition and creative sponge stamping activities, building confidence with language through play.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

ALLIED HEALTH IS NOW AVAILABLE AT STRIDE

KEEPING HEALTHY THIS WINTER

As winter continues, thank you for helping us keep our centres healthy by keeping children home when they are unwell, practising good hand hygiene and keeping your centre informed of any changes to your child’s health.

Working together helps create healthy learning environments where every child can learn and thrive.

Recipe of the month

Chicken Stir Fry Noodles

Looking for a quick, nutritious family dinner? This delicious Chicken Stir Fry Noodles recipe is packed with colourful vegetables and is always a favourite with little ones.

Ingredients

  • 500g diced chicken breast
  • 800g stir fry vegetables (baby corn, green beans, broccoli, carrots, onion and capsicum)
  • 1.4kg instant noodles
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, sesame oil and brown sugar. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large frying pan and cook the chicken until golden and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the noodles according to the packet instructions, then drain.
  4. Heat the remaining oil in the pan and gently cook the garlic for 1 to 2 minutes before adding the vegetables. Stir fry for 5 to 6 minutes.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the vegetables and cook for a further 5 to 7 minutes, stirring regularly.
  6. Add the cooked noodles and chicken back into the pan, tossing everything together until heated through.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Little Helper Tip: Children can help wash the vegetables, stir the sauce ingredients together and toss the noodles through at the end with a little supervision. It’s a fun way to build confidence in the kitchen while encouraging healthy eating.
